On June 16th I received an email from Linda Killion from Thomson Heinle asking if I would be interested to create a commercial for their new series of Text Books Stand Out. From there on out I created characters (loosely based off the Stand Out cover) , storyboarded, created a background, found and created sound, conducted original music, and animated the below commercial.

The commercial is now being used in presentations throughout the country and will soon be on their website.

Great Dates in History: How George met Martha is featured on NESN's Sox Appeal website. Produced by Scout Productions, Sox Appeal is a dating show where contestants will go on dates with three people at Fenway park and will choose a winner by the ninth inning.

A few months ago Shaun Baker from Scout Productions contacted me and asked if I would be interested in creating any cartoons for the Sox Appeal website, the result was and is Great Dates. Sox Appeal will air in mid July on NESN and Great dates can be found under the Video section, then under Fans if you want to check it out there, http://www.sox-appeal.com/home.html

Another Comic up on BarstoolSports.com accompanying an Uncle Buck article...

Back from the Dead?

5 games in 2 weeks. Seems scary to many, but there really is no reason to panic regarding the Yankoffs surge from 14.5 back to 9.5 back, currently. Consider the following:

Since losing 5 in a row last month, the Yankoffs have gone 9-2. The last 3 home wins came against the pathetic Pirates who are 11 games under .500. The Pirates bullpen killed them in all 3 losses. They nearly won the 1st game and hung around until the later innings in the last two games, before A-Fraud and Co. finally started to pile on some runs.

In that same stretch the Red Sox went 4-7, however, the losses can be blamed almost exclusively on a lack of hitting. Except for JD Drew and Tek in AZ, they bats have been ice cold. Meanwhile, the Sox starting pitching was excellent, giving quality starts in almost every game.

"Clemens is who we thought he was!" The Rocket went 6, throwing over 100 pitches in his 1st outing. Giving up 3 runs to Pittsburgh, he was far from sharp and showed some concern regarding his previous injury in the post game press conference. A 6 inning, 100 pitch start, isn't going to cut it when the line ups get tougher and isn't doing that exhausted pen any favors.

Coming up next for the Yankoffs is a pair of inter-league series vs. Arizona and the Mets. After that they go on the road for 9, where they had better clean up the Rockies, Giants and O's, before having to come back home for their toughest home stretch, maybe of the year: 10 against Oakland, Minnesota and the Angels. The Red Sox, on the other hand, have a great chance to get back up double digits with home sets against the sub .500 Rockies and Giants before a 9 game road trip against Atlanta, San Diego and Seattle.

Well, with the benefit of hindsight, the Sox won the series

After the Tom Brady comic, the author of the article Uncle Buck asked if I were interested in making some more comics for the upcoming NBA draft. One would be before the draft (Danny Ainge bingo) and then another for afterwards depending what spot the Celtics received. came up they were doing a live update to see where the Celtics would place. Well, they placed at fifth and at the time it looked like it was all over for the C's. In the end though it all worked out.

Barstool Sports is a free newspaper in Boston that covers sports and other such news events throughout the city. Uncle Buck, who is a writer for the paper asked me to create the above comic for the below article. The comic was then featured on their website along with the before mentioned article...

Brady Boston Herald/Inside Track - First, let's discuss Peyton: The Super Bowl champ, as you know, hosted last week's "SNL" and, in his monologue, told a story about visiting a Boston veterans hospital and being taunted by a Pats fan named Joe O'Malley. "What do Tom Brady and the circus have in common?" Peyton said Joe asked him. "They both have two more rings than you." Well, according to former ESPN.com writer Dan Shanoff, that was not how the joke originally went. In the dress rehearsal, Burlington home gal Amy Poehler was dressed in a Pats jersey and she is the one who delivered the "two more rings than you" line.

To which, Peyton replied "That's not the ONLY thing he'll have two more of . . ." Oh, ouch! SNL spokesguy Marc Lepis confirmed that the joke was axed before Peyton & Co. went live from New York.

"Yes," he said. "The monologue changed from dress to air. As do many sketches." Perhaps all the Pats fans in the cast revolted. Or maybe Bundchen's denial that she is also sporting a Brady Bump made the whole thing moot. Who knows. What we do know is that Peyton says smack talk about rings motivates him to come back next season and "kick y'all's ass."

Maybe the joke was pulled because it is dumb. If it had happened when the rumor of a 2nd baby was going on then maybe. Or maybe if he used the "Trouble with protection" line on Tommy then it could have worked...

The Track also reported that Giselle took a shot at Bridget Moynahan in a foreign magazine saying, "I don't know when it's going to happen (have kid, start family)," Gi continues. "Everything in life has to be planned. I'm very old-fashioned. I believe in being married and going to your husband and saying 'Let's have a kid.'"
